Hello
My name is Skye Kilaen. I live in Austin, Texas.
I have a master's degree in public policy with a side order of geek, which means that I write well, I build websites, and I can actually explain how the Medicare prescription drug plan works.
More specifically, my professional background is in nonprofits, advocacy, and health and social services. Feel free to browse samples of my writing and research from my work in those sectors. I've also worked extensively as an IT trainer and writer of user-friendly documentation for non-technical folks.
If you're having trouble with your WordPress, Blogger, or TypePad blog, I can help with that. I also love to build and support websites and blogs using Movable Type, a powerful self-hosted software platform that gives you 100% control over your site. Let me know if you're intrigued by this and want to learn more.
I maintain a number of my own blogs. My list of favorite posts on various topics is a good place to get started, or just head on over and check one of them out.
- All Access Blogging, about making your blog more accessible to people with disabilities
- Heroine Content, which I co-write, features feminist and anti-racist critique of action movies
- Flooded Lizard Kingdom, my personal blog
- Veg Out! Austin, about all things vegetarian and restaurant here in the capitol of Texas
I've also blogged for Crafting a Green World and social change site JUST CAUSE.
Contact me if you have any questions, or just to say hi. Or howdy, if you prefer.
